Promoting a society that works for all
Our Mission
Our Vision
What makes us different?
We are dedicated to using the full strength of the law to create systemic change. Our innovative programs like the Informal Justice Court and Police Duty Solicitors Scheme stand out by directly addressing issues at the grassroots level, fostering a society where justice is accessible to all. Through our strategic litigations and partnerships, we ensure accountability and transparency, making a tangible impact in the lives of thousands.

Informal Justice Court
In March 2021, we partnered with the Aardschap Foundation and Public Interest Law Partnership (PILP) to educate 45 inmates at Ikoyi Custodial Correctional Centre on the functioning of the formal court. We conducted mock trials on how the court system functions.

Police Duty Solicitors Scheme
In response to the directive of the Honourable Chief Judge of Lagos State on the designation of Magistrates to police stations in May 2021, we partnered with the Nigerian Bar Association Ikeja Branch to assist the Magistrates in decongesting Police detention centres/cells due to the JUSUN strike of April to July 2021. Our team of twelve (12) volunteer Lawyers assisted 18 Magistrates and participated in 214 cases. All of whom were released on bail.

PDSS Training for Lawyers
We trained 22 new Lawyers, most of whom are within 8 years of post-call, on the practice and procedure of the Police Duty Solicitors Scheme. The training was to enrol them in the scheme. Divided into two sessions, the first Session was on the Need to Implement Sections 33 and 34 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 and Force Order 20 of the Nigeria Police Force, 2017. We had reflections on the three (3) projects and the experience of Duty Solicitors on Police harassment while on duty.

LASU Law Clinic
We inspired, revived and trained students at Lagos State University in the art of pro bono legal advocacy where we have recruited 33 active student volunteers. We sponsored the Advocacy Conference in 2024.

JAPOV
As a member of the National Civil Societies Forum of Nigeria, in partnership with five other organisations, we launched the Joint Action Against Police Violence (JAPOV) in 2023. JAPOV is dedicated to promoting accountability, transparency, and the protection of human rights and by fostering collaborative efforts, JAPOV strives to create a safe and just society for all Nigerian citizens, free from the fear of police violence and misconduct, wrongful incarcerations, and other forms of systemic injustices.

Strategic Litigations
In the build-up to the 2023 general elections, we challenged the National Universities Commission (NUC) circular directing the closure of all Universities and Inter-University Centres, which would have disenfranchised 26,027,481 (27.8%) of the registered voters.
We compelled 16 public institutions to open their books with the FoI Act of 2011 to expose corruption in public institutions and entrenched transparency. We have engaged public institutions, parastatals, and agencies of government.
34 Strategic litigation cases with a 90% success rate.
